This circulation can also help remove impurities to reduce scaling. In this particular configuration, the refrigerant can continuously boil more bubbles at a lower superheat. The shell-side heat transfer coefficient can be as high as 30 times that of light tubes.
Furthermore, the tube side heat transfer coefficient is again improved contributing to increased surface area and turbulent flow induced by helical ridges inside the tube.
