The fins are obtained by roll forming the outer surface of a plain tube. This process results in an increase in strength of the finned sections, whereas the plain ends and lands remain soft. Soft annealing of the tubes is required if they have to be suitable for bending and coiling.

The water is cooled outside the tubes by the flow and evaporation of the refrigerant inside the tubes. The heat transfer coefficient in the tube is 1.5-2 times that of the light tube of the same specification, and the heat transfer capacity is significant. Corrugated spiral grooves can also be processed on the outer surface of the pipe to expand the scope of use.
